In a move that appeared orchestrated to support the claims made by members of Nancy Pelosi’s partisan House committee assigned to “investigate” the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, federal law enforcement officers have arrested a candidate for governor in Michigan, for allegedly participating.
The Washington Examiner said the FBI arrested GOP candidate Ryan Kelley on Thursday on claims he committed misdemeanors in Washington.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington, when the FBI arrested Kelley at his home, claimed Kelley was seen at the Capitol that day.
He has stated he never entered the building.
But he would be one of hundreds and hundreds of people arrested by the federal government on claims they were there, they entered the building, they vandalized parts of the building, and more. Many of those arrested have been held in jail, without bail, since their arrests. Some have been jailed for well over a year already on what essentially are minor counts.
He was scheduled to appear in court later Thursday.
Bill Miller, of the Washington prosecutor’s office, said, “A complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
Pelosi’s committee is partisan since she refused to seat GOP members that party nominated. She instead picked two GOP members who had repeatedly attacked President Trump.
Pelosi’s plan now is to present to the American public, through televised hearings scheduled to start Thursday night, the Democrat demands for what now needs to happen. There’s been little secret that members of the committee are dedicated to presenting a scenario that makes it look bad for President Trump.
The report said Kelley faced counts of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, engaging in disorderly and disruptive conduct and engaging in acts of violence against a person or property.
The FBI said it based its case on “several anonymous sources” who reportedly provided photographs of Kelley at the Capitol.
The report said, “FBI officials arrested Kelley while carrying out a search warrant in his home Thursday morning.”
The Daily Mail called the arrest of the 40-year-old a “stunning move.”
The report said in court documents from the FBI there were photographs of him in a baseball cap worn backward.
“One photo appears to show him walking under scaffolding at the Capitol and up a set of Capitol steps,” the report said. “A FBI agent’s sworn affidavit says the agent says he was caught on video ‘assaulting and pushing past law enforcement officers.'”
