House Republicans wants children protected from sexually explicit threats

Republican members of the U.S. House have announced that they want to protect children from sexually explicit books, lessons and programs.

In an announcement, Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., said he and dozens of other Republicans in the body are proposing a plan to ban federal, state and local governments – and private groups – from using federal tax money to expose children under 10 to the offensive content.

Johnson’s announcement said, “The Democrat Party and their cultural allies are on a misguided crusade to immerse young children in sexual imagery and radical gender ideology.”

He called the new limits “commonsense” and explained, “No federal tax dollars should go to any federal, state, or local government agencies, or private organizations that intentionally expose children under 10 years of age to sexually explicit material.”

The plan is called the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act of 2022.

It “prohibits the use of federal funds to develop, implement, facilitate, or fund any sexually-oriented program, event, or literature for children under the age of 10. The bill prohibits federal funds from being used to host or promote events where adults dance salaciously or strip for children,” the announcement said.

The problems the plan targets already are evident. Planned Parenthood, for example, gets millions of dollars regularly from tax money, but it is “encouraging legislatures and school boards around the country to implement sexual education curricula that teaches radical gender theory to children under 10. Children should be learning about reading, writing, and mathematics, not radical gender theory,” the announcement explains.

Another problem?

“Federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services were recently used to fund an event in Alaska where a drag queen performed for children. The Department of Defense is funding drag shows for families on military bases and incorporating radical gender ideology into curricula at DOD schools. HHS and DOD funding should be used to keep our country healthy and safe, not to stage burlesque shows for children,” the announcement said.

The enforcement procedures also would allow parents to sue any public or private group that uses federal dollars in violation of the limits.

“Any organization that violates the law more than once in a five-year period, would lose access to federal funds for three years,” the announcement said.

Dozens of GOP House members have joined in the effort, including Reps. Bob Good, Doug Lamborn, Lauren Boebert, Mary Miller, Louie Gohmert, Burgess Owens, Nicole Malliotakis and others.

EDITOR’S NOTE: With what has been called the “Sovietization” of the Biden administration – including the shocking criminalization of dissent and massive weaponization of the FBI against political opponents – America is being increasingly compared to a third-world or communist dictatorship. Yet America still has one sacred institution that dictatorships from Zimbabwe to communist China don’t have: ELECTIONS. And in reality, there is no reason, despite the regime’s all-out efforts at election rigging, that the tens of millions of decent, right-thinking American voters cannot stop the Biden administration’s ever-expanding madness this November. For that reason, the September issue of WND’s critically acclaimed monthly Whistleblower magazine insightfully covers the most electrifying and important races, illuminates the biggest issues, reveals how the latest federal takeover of elections actually violates the law, and much more. Looking forward to 2024, the issue also highlights why, to quote the chairman of a major think tank, Donald Trump “is the most towering political figure in living memory” and the person “most fit to lead” today’s America. It’s all in “STOPPING THE MADNESS: A MIDTERM ELECTION GUIDE FOR VOTERS WHO LOVE AMERICA.”
