A man who became part of the transgender community some years ago, and lived as a woman, now is preparing to sue Britain’s National Health Service for ignoring his mental health issues at that time, and pushing him into the life-altering body mutilations.
The Christian Institute reports that Ritchie Herron has waived his anonymity to discuss what happened to him.
“While in his twenties, Ritchie Herron, who was battling mental health issues, was told by strangers on the internet he ‘must be trans.’ He decide to seek professional help to solve his problems,” the institute reports. “He says the NHS clinic he visited failed to take his spiraling mental health crisis into account or properly counsel him about the impact of ‘sex swap’ surgery.”
Herron visited a gender clinic to be given a diagnoses of “transsexualism” after only two 30-minute visits.
“A psychiatrist recommended he take testosterone-suppressing drugs and ignored the concerns of a close family member, who had warned the doctor the young man ‘was on a high dose of antidepressants and had lots of complex issues,'” the report said.
Herron charges that “not one professional explored whether mental health issues may have led him to believe he was transgender.”
Threatened with being dropped from therapy, he submitted to the “irreversible operation.”
But he immediately regretted that, and said there are more like him.
“This is an avalanche waiting to happen. Transition is now being sold to people on a mass scale. … How many more people are there out there like me?”
The Daily Mail’s report said he told the publication, “My first thought as I came round was Oh God! What have I done?”
Herron now is 35 and is a civil servant.
He told the Daily Mail is life now is “almost unbearable.”
His case emerged when he “posted about his experience on Twitter under a pseudonym, TullipR. His brief testimony, which was picked up by the Daily Mail, was as shocking as it was damning for the NHS ‘gender clinics’ that help people change sex,” the report said.
The report said, “Ritchie has decided to waive his anonymity to tell the story of his ordeal in full, detail the physical and mental scars he has been left with – and warn there are more like him ready to take legal action over the surgery they bitterly regret.”
His case raises “serious questions” about the safeguards for those who are being counseled into body mutilations that are involved with transgenderism. The U.K. has seen a 1,700% rise in referrals for those procedures over the past 10 years, mostly for children and young adults.
The Daily Mail noted, “Ritchie is now planning a legal case against Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust. His barrister, Peter Harthan, says patients like Ritchie faced ‘a lifetime of medical care and consequences’ and ‘cannot be put back together again.'”
