Not a day goes by that my mind doesn’t seem to spin out of control as I read and hear about the spending plans of the Biden administration.
The latest he’s working on tops $1.75 TRILLION – yes, trillion!
And that’s just one part of their overall goals.
There are people alive who recall when government spending was in the millions, and at that, people held their breath. It was so out of the realm of belief.
But that was then, and this is now, and the politicians toss the millions, billions and trillions around like your neighborhood craps game.
Joseph Biden seems to think that by telling us he will only increase taxes on people earning more than $400,000 a year, we should be pacified. Then we read that, well, it may be less, but it’s too soon to say.
Then, of course, there are the assurances that only the REALLY rich will get hit with higher grabs of their money – some of that will be from their personal accounts, but the really big bites will come from their businesses.
You know, those companies that produce and sell the products Americans like and need. Would this mean that prices would increase? Probably, but to politicians that is of no consequence.
It seems that the Democratic Party’s goal is to take what it can from everyone, large and small, consequences be damned.
Along with the Biden plans to increase the government take from citizens, he and his party have plans to distribute the money in places most people wouldn’t even consider – or they haven’t, at least until now.
Within days, it was announced that Biden wants to pay a court settlement to families of the nine victims of a race shooting. The figure they are tossing around is $88 million – the rationale being that the feds should have prevented the shooter from getting a gun.
Oh.
This really isn’t a game of “can you top this?” – but perhaps it is.
It you’ve paid any attention at all to the chaos at the southern border of this country, you know that the administration has decided to ignore it. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world have already crossed into this country, and they continue to do so on a daily basis. What happens to them after that, who really knows?
The feds do not support the Border Patrol or ICE, and the Americans who live along the border areas are victims of the crimes perpetrated by the illegals.
And, yes, they are “illegals.”
There are thousands of families that have illegally crossed the border. In addition to the families, there have been increasing numbers – hundreds of thousands – of unaccompanied children.
Now the Biden administration is proposing to pay out $450,000 PER PERSON to families that were separated at the border. We’re told this stems from lawsuits by migrants who say our border policies caused them lasting “psychological damage.”
According to a Wall Street Journal report, two people in the same family could receive close to $1 million total. The ACLU represents separated families, and it says they know of 5,500 separated children.
The program in question was enacted under the Trump administration, but it was withdrawn after two months, in 2018, after much controversy.
When families were detained after crossing the border, children were separated. Often it was impossible to identify them with their relatives. There have been accusations of mistreatment, and lawyers argue they suffered trauma.
As lawyers pursue payouts for these situations, the potential take averages $3.4 million per family – as the WSJ reported!
While there are government lawyers on the case, not all agree with these settlement proposals. Some are said to be outraged that people who knowingly broke the law could receive such a payment. One attorney threatened to remove his name from the case in protest of the potential settlement offer.
Reaction from Republicans was quick and vociferous.
Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., said: “Joe Biden wants to raise your taxes, but give $450,000 to illegal immigrants. Biden is putting America last.”
Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., wrote on Twitter: “Joe Biden gave Americans a $1,300 check but wants to give illegal immigrants $450,000, which is more than the 9/11 compensation fund.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said if this scheme goes through, it “would be an OUTRAGE!”
So far, nothing from President Biden – he is on his trip to Europe, so we’ll have to wait until he gets home to see what he has to say about all this. I’m not optimistic.
