A lobbying firm linked to Hunter Biden as well as the Ukrainian gas company Burisma “pitched” access to the Hillary Clinton campaign to a former Ukrainian prosecutor, according to a new report.
Fox News on Friday reported it had obtained emails between former Obama State Department officials revealing the actions.
The report explained, “Former Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko told former Obama State Department official George Kent he had been ‘pitched’ by a Hunter Biden and Burisma-linked lobbying firm to give him ‘access’ to ‘high levels’ of the Clinton campaign in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election.”
Blue Star Strategies, the company cited, now reportedly is under federal investigation for potential illegal lobbying, according to the report. It allegedly comes as Department of Justice is working to defeat the influence foreign governments try to exert over American politics and elections.
“The probe into Blue Star … puts firms and operatives connected to the Democratic Party under the microscope,” the report.
Fox reported that an email released to Citizens United as part of a Freedom of Information Act filing shows former deputy assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eastern Europe George Kent wrote to a number of Obama administration officials about a meeting he had with Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko in September 2016 about Blue Star Strategies.
The subject line was “Lutsenko now likely not to go to DC with Blue Star, other Ukr issue comments” and it was dispatched to the former assistant secretary for fossil energy Christopher Smith, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and Alan Purcell, the chief political officer at the Kiev embassy from 2014 to 2017, the report said.
Kent explained he met Lutsenko “one on one after I’d SMSed him regarding stories that he was using a third party lobbyist to pull together a planned trip to DC turned into a chat over Thai food at the DCR.”
Fox said, “Kent, a key witness in the first impeachment proceedings against former President Trump in 2019, said the two discussed options of a trip Lutsenko had been planning to the U.S., and ‘confirmed he has been pitched by Blue Star, not sought them out.'”
“He said he honestly didn’t know how Blue Star was to get paid — he didn’t have funds — and that some BPP MP that we probably didn’t know ‘and that’s good’ (Truhubenko??) had introduced them to him,” Kent said in the email.
Fox noted it was unclear who is “Truhubenko.”
But Kent wrote, “Blue Star CEO [Karen] Tramantano’s pitch was that she could gain him access to high levels of the Clinton campaign (GPK note: she was Podesta’s deputy as deputy COS the last year of Bill Clinton’s tenure), and that was appealing—to meet the possible next Presidential Chief of Staff.”
While Kent noted meetings were unlikely to develop only weeks before an election, he also commented on the link with Blue Star, which had represented Burisma, which was paying Hunter Biden tens of thousands of dollars a week to be on its board.
“Hunter Biden joined Burisma in 2014, and, at the time, reportedly connected Burisma with Blue Star to help the firm fight corruption charges. The founder of Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, the former minister of ecologies, had been under investigation in Ukraine,” the report said.
President Trump in 2019 was targeted by the first of two failed impeach-and-remove attempts by Democrats over Burisma Holdings. He had asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone call to look into the Biden family’s dealings in Ukraine.
Kent was a key witness during those proceedings. He explained he raised concerns with Biden’s office in 2015 that Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Burisma could present “the possibility of the perception of a conflict of interest.”
Hunter Biden’s scandals have plagued Joe Biden as candidate, and now as president.
While Joe Biden was campaigning for president and scandals involving his son, Hunter, kept surfacing, he assured Americans, “I have never discussed with my son or my brother or anyone else anything having to do with their businesses. Period.”
That’s despite a recent investigation by the Daily Wire that revealed Hunter Biden had his fingers in business pies in Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, Oman, Qatar, Taiwan, Zimbabwe, Greece and Mexico, in addition to his highly publicized business dealings in China and Ukraine while is father was vice president.
Further, Breitbart has reported he took 411 trips across 29 countries during the years his father was vice president, including 23 flights in or out of Joint Base Andrews, where Air Force Two is stationed.
Now the New York Post confirms that Joe Biden actually met with Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakhstani business associates of his son’s “at a dinner in Washington, D.C., while he was vice president.”
The report reveals that confirmation is from records on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop.
The report said the dinner was April 16, 2015, at the private “Garden Room” at Café Milano in Georgetown.
The day after, Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, sent Hunter Biden a noting thanking him for introducing him to his father, the Post documented.
“Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together,” Pozharskyi wrote. “It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure.”
Burisma was, at the time, paying Hunter Biden $83,333 a month to be on its board, even though he lacked experience in the energy industry. But he did have a father who was vice president, and in charge of Ukraine policy for the Barack Obama administration.
In fact, Joe Biden openly boasted of threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if Ukraine’s president did not fire the country’s top prosecutor, Victor Shokin, who at the time was investigating Burisma for corruption.
A French website reported Shokin later filed a criminal complaint naming Joe Biden and accusing him of committing a “criminal offense” in his campaign to get Shokin fired.
The Post’s report said Hunter Biden assembled the guest list for the special dinner to include Russian billionaire Yelena Baturina and her husband, corrupt former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, who since has died.
It was Baturina who sent $3.5 million on Feb. 14, 2014, to Rosemont Seneca Thornton LLC, one of Hunter Biden’s business entities.
Hunter Biden had confirmed to guests before the dinner the vice president would be there.
In a message to Michael Karloutsos, whose father then was head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Hunter Biden said, “Ok – the reason for the dinner is ostensibly to discuss food security. Dad will be there but keep that between us for now. Thanks.”
The Post reported, “The dinner raises questions about how much Joe Biden, who has claimed ignorance of his son’s activities, knew about Hunter’s dealings with foreign businesses and government officials.”
