Victor Davis Hanson calls out Democrats for lies

Democrats for months now have been using the phrase the “Big Lie” and claiming that’s what’s coming from President Trump when he talks about anomalies in the 2020 presidential election results.

There’s no doubt there were questionable events – after all elections officials changed state voting laws without permission and Mark Zuckerberg handed out $420 million to leftists mostly with instructions to recruit voters from Democrat strongholds.

So the question about whether the election actually was “stolen” remains debated.

But the politicians who lie today – and are being called out for it – largely – are Democrats.

At PJMedia, Victor Davis Hanson, a historian at the Hoover Institute and famed author, wrote about lies from Anthony Fauci, Biden’s point man on COVID-19, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, former FBI directors Andrew McCabe and James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA chief John Brennan and Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley.

Joe Biden, who just recently – and illogically – lied about being vice president for 36 years and commuting on Amtrak during that time, a time period that featured his famous conversation with an employee who was dead when the conversation reportedly happened, was left off Davis’ list, but his fabrications have been famously covered by Miranda Devine in the New York Post.

She recently wrote, “President Biden has gotten away his entire career with bending the truth and taking people for fools. Now the habit has infected his entire administration. So many lies are pumped out these days that it is impossible to keep up.”

And they are serious – “matters of life and death that have a profound impact on the future of this country.”

She listed just a handful of the most egregious, including that “the southern border is closed.”

“No, it’s wide open, by design, and yet Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Vice President Kamala Harris keep telling us, ‘The border is closed,'” she said. “We can see with our own eyes, mainly thanks to Fox News, that illegal immigrants from all over the world are flooding in from Mexico, under the watchful gaze of Border Patrol agents who have been ordered to stand down.”

No. 2 is that Border Patrol agents on horseback “whipped” Haitian migrants.

Activists, she explained, seized on an image of horseback-riding agents to claim they were whipping immigrants.

“What they said were whips were reins,” she explained, but Biden piled on, using his office to threaten the agents with dire consequences.

He claimed, “It was horrible to see what you saw, to see people treated like they did,” Biden said. “Horses running them over, people being strapped. It’s outrageous. I promise you those people will pay.”

Next was Biden’s promise that the U.S. would not leave Afghanistan until every American was evacuated. In fact, Biden’s own administration admitted just this week that 439 Americans were left behind to be under the thumb of the terrorists in Taliban.

Then there was that drone attack in Kabul that the administration claimed killed ISIS-K terrorists.

“Wrong. Ten innocent civilians, including seven children, were killed,” she wrote. “The Pentagon lied and obfuscated for two weeks and only came clean after the New York Times published incontrovertible video footage and eyewitness reporting of the tragic reality.”

No. 5 was the lie that Hunter Biden’s laptop is “Russian disinformation.”

Actually, surveys by Media Research Center showed that the Big Tech agenda to suppress the New York Post reporting on that issue last year likely turned the election from President Trump to Joe Biden. Americans since then have expressed alarm that Big Tech could thus intervene in an election.

And the idea that the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion green and social welfare bill, a plan still under revision, would cost “zero” dollars.

“The math doesn’t need elaborating. $3.5 trillion is not zero,” Devine said.

“With so many lies, is it any wonder that Biden’s approval level has plummeted from 61 percent in January to 37 percent in September among independent voters, according to a Gallup poll,” she said.

Hanson targeted Fauci for misleading the country about mask-wearing, and then claiming it was a “noble” lie because he did it so that the public would not make a run on masks.

Then there were his lies about the percentage of the public needing vaccinations for “herd immunity.” Those numbers included 60%, 70%, 75%, 80% and 85%.

“Fauci also lied about his own role in routing U.S. aid money to subsidize gain-of-function viral research at the Wuhan virology lab — the likely birthplace of COVID-19,” Hanson wrote.

“Either Fauci was hiding his own culpability, or he believed the American people might not be able to fully accept that some of their own health officials were promoting the sort of research that was partially responsible for more than 700,000 American deaths.”

He cited Mayorkas having “serially lied” about undocumented immigrants invading the U.S., McCabe and Comey misleading the nation about FBI leaks and the basic facts of the Russian collusion hoax, Clapper’s lies to Congress about NSA surveillance, Brennan’s lies – under oath – regarding efforts to monitor Senate staffers, and “Milley lied for days about the details of an accidental drone strike that killed innocent women and children in Afghanistan.”

“The list of such lies could be vastly expanded,” Hanson said, pointing at IRS functionary Lois Lerner, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and special counsel Robert Mueller.

“In truth, in most cases there was nothing noble at all in their lying,” Hanson wrote. “They simply spread untruths to protect their own endangered careers by masking their own wrongdoing or fobbing it onto others.”
