A new poll that assesses the “respect” voters have for various political figures shows just where President Donald Trump stands with them.

Fairly high.

And it’s twice-failed Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton who comes in last.

The Rasmussen polling results were reported in the Washington Examiner.

The report noted voters must be “eager” for a return of MAGA.

“Already buoyed by polls showing that a majority of voters are willing to overlook his legal troubles, Trump is steadily gaining on President Joe Biden in head-to-head matchups,” the report said.

Now, the report said, “they have a growing ‘respect’ for the 45th president of the United States as a leader.”

The polling showed that given a list of names, 42% picked Trump as the leader they would respect.

Only 21% picked Joe Biden, whose troubles with fading mental capabilities were documented in a report by special counsel Robert Hur.

He investigated the allegations that Biden took, and kept, classified government documents in violation of federal law. It’s the same offense for which President Donald Trump has been charged with criminal counts.

The major difference is that Trump was president, and had authority to declassify the documents he had after his presidency. Biden took the documents as senator and vice president, when he had no such authority.

But Hur pointed out that Biden failed to remember just when he was vice president and other critical details, and said he would not recommend charges against Biden because a jury would view hm as an elderly man with a diminished capacity and be unlikely to convict.

The question Rasmussen asked was: “Which one of the following people do you respect most as a leader: Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or Mitt Romney?”

Trump was named by 42%, Biden 21%, Obama 17%, Not sure 6%, Nikki Haley 5%, Bernie Sanders 5% and Mitt Romney at 3%.

In last was Hillary Clinton, at 2%.

“As always, partisanship played a huge role in the survey, with Republicans rallying behind Trump much more than Democrats did for Biden,” explained he Examiner report by Paul Bedard. “Some 75% of Republicans said they respected Trump most as a leader. Among Democrats, however, just 43% chose Biden.”

Rasmussen’s analysis noted, “Older voters show a stronger preference for Trump, compared to younger voters. However, voters under 40 are more likely to name Obama (24%) than Biden (16%) as the leader they respect the most. And it’s among under-40 voters that Sanders gets the highest level of respect.”
