‘Enjoy your last day in Congress!’ Anna Paulina Luna counting down until next ‘corrupt’ Democrat expelled

In the wake of last week’s high-profile resignations of two members of Congress – Reps. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and Tony Gonzales, R-Texas – U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has been counting down the days until the next elected Democrat is ousted from Capitol Hill.

That Democrat is Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Florida, who faces more than two dozen charges of ethics violations for corruption, including allegedly stealing $5 million in FEMA funds and using the money to support her 2021 congressional campaign. Last November, the U.S. Justice Department filed federal charges, and earlier this month, an Ethics subcommittee determined she violated a host of rules of congressional standards.

“1 day until Sheila’s expulsion for corruption,” Luna, who sits on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, posted Monday on X.

Luna also noted: “She will be expelled for corruption TOMORROW. Enjoy your last day in Congress Sheila!”

Luna began her countdown last week, saying, “6 days until Sheila’s expulsion for corruption,” and has continued every day since like clockwork.

“If they’re doing this s***, then they need to go,” she said.

Cherfilus-McCormick has maintained her innocence, claiming she’s the target of a Republican witch hunt by the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, it’s not just a Democrat who’s in danger of expulsion, as Republican Congressman Cory Mills, also of Florida, faces allegations of misconduct for “dating violence,” campaign finance violations and using his position in Congress to steer business to the weapons and defense companies he continues to operate, according to the Hill. He has denied the charges.

The Hill reports Mills “is well aware of the uproar surrounding his conduct. But he’s maintained his innocence, noting that he’s never been arrested, even following a police investigation into a physical altercation between himself and a girlfriend in Washington. In the same vein, he characterized another of the episodes under investigation – which involves revenge porn accusations that led a former girlfriend to obtain a restraining order – as ‘a bad breakup.’”

“It’s just interesting, kind-of seeing how you’re guilty by accusation as opposed to the way the rule of law truly works,” Mills told NewsNation.

Luna has been adamant about party affiliations being irrelevant to her, saying: “It is not my job to vote to protect people who are breaking the law and are morally bankrupt. My statement has been very clear, and although the media has been persistently inquiring, I will reiterate it here: I do NOT care about party affiliation. If someone is engaged in unethical and/or illegal behavior and there is evidence, I will vote to expel them.”

The House Ethics Committee holds its hearing Tuesday at 2 p.m. Eastern.

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!
