‘Far beyond the pale’: Trump urges immediate firing of Jimmy Kimmel after ‘expectant widow’ insult of Melania

In the wake of First Lady Melania Trump’s call for ABC to take action against Jimmy Kimmel, President Donald Trump on Monday urged the network to immediately fire its late-night host for joking that Melania had the “glow like an expectant widow” during a parody broadcast two days before Saturday night’s assassination attempt.

“Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be. He then stated, ‘Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.’

“A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale.

Trump concluded: “Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Kimmel broadcast a parody version in advance of the real White House Correspondents Dinner, and said: “Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

As WorldNetDaily reported, Melania Trump on Monday morning posted a fierce response to Kimmel’s remarks, saying: “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy – his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”

She then suggested Kimmel be taken off the air, and blasted the ABC network.

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” Melania Trump explained.

“A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.

“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”

Monday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted leftist lawmakers and media for “fueling” assassination attempts against Trump by their constant vicious rhetoric.

“This hateful and constant and violent rhetoric directed at President Trump day after day after day for 11 years has helped to legitimize this violence and bring us to this dark moment,” Leavitt said.

“Those who constantly, falsely label and slander the president as a fascist, as a threat to democracy and compare him to Hitler to score political points are fueling this kind of violence.”

This is not the first time Kimmel has come under fire for controversial comments during his monologue.

As WorldNetDaily reported, ABC actually canceled his show for a week last September in response to the TV host’s wildly inaccurate statement about Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating civil-rights leader Charlie Kirk.

Kimmel had said in his monologue, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them – and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Days later, as WorldNetDaily reported, journalist Benny Johnson asserted Kimmel “put a target on the back of every Trump supporter” with his remarks blaming Kirk’s assassination on those who wish to Make America Great Again, or MAGA.

“Charlie is the figurehead of the MAGA movement and so to blame MAGA for Charlie’s death, which by the way is a sick and evil lie, is to blame Charlie for his own death. But also it is to put a target on the back of every Trump supporter,” said Johnson, host of “The Benny Show,” during an appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox News Channel.

“Because what Jimmy Kimmel is saying is that with the full power and weight of ABC News, which is a taxpayer-funded, corporate news entity which has a license to broadcast in the public interest, he is saying I’m gonna take the full weight of that comedy show, which is a sick joke, and I’m gonna put a target on the back of Trump supporters.”
