In secret meetings, Biden demands media say nicer things about him

A new report in the Daily Mail is charging that the White House is holding secret meetings with news organizations to tell them to report more favorably on the president.

And CNN’s media writer, Oliver Darcy, confirmed in an online posting that the White House has been “not happy with the news media’s coverage of the supply chain and economy,” so it dispatched National Economic Council Deputy Directors David Kamin and Bharat Ramamurti, as well as Ports Envoy John Porcari to brief “major newsrooms” on its issues.

“The officials have been discussing with newsrooms trends pertaining to job creation, economic growth, supply chains, and more. The basic argument that has been made: That the country’s economy is in much better shape than it was last year,” the posting explained.

The Daily Mail also pointed to a column by Dana Milbank in the Washington Post that claimed, “The media treats Biden as badly as – or worse than – Trump.”

In fact, both legacy and social media operations in the United States that carried nonstop criticism of President Trump before and during his presidency, including extended reporting on the now-debunked Russian collusion conspiracy theory that was created on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, largely have treated Biden with kid gloves, lobbing hard-hitting questions at him like what is his favorite ice cream flavor.

One study by the Media Research Center, in fact, pointed out that it is likely the suppression of accurate reporting on Hunter Biden, and his entanglements with his father, Joe Biden, just before the 2020 election likely changed the results enough to have handed the White House to Joe Biden.

It was Milbank who reported he was suspicious about a “torrent” of negative headlines about Biden and commissioned a study, the Daily Mail report said.

“He asked Forge.ai, a data analytics unit of the information company FiscalNote, to look at 65 news websites ranging from newspapers to wire services and political publications, and do a ‘sentiment analysis’ of the 200,000 articles by searching for adjectives,” the report said.

Milbank concluded the result was that the media were treating Biden worse than Trump.

“My colleagues in the media are serving as accessories to the murder of democracy,’ he claimed.

In an interview, Milbank said the coverage – “The actual words we’re using” – turned negative over just the last few months.

It’s that time period that inflation has surged across America, Biden conducted his disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, leaving behind Americans, allies and billions of dollars worth of war machinery, the southern border crisis worsened, and more.

Milbank claimed, “We are as negative as a collective media on Joe Biden, if not more so than we were to Donald Trump at a time when he was trying to overthrow democracy.”

The claim that Trump was trying “to overthrow democracy,” is, of course, opinion.

Ron Klain, Biden’s chief of staff, immediately forwarded the claims on social media.

The Daily Mail reported the White House campaign’s dividends already have started appearing, with a piece in the Columbus Dispatch that promoted, “It’s time to give Joe Biden his Due.”

There, a guest columnist – a former Democratic National Committee official – described Biden’s economy, which has cost virtually every American through its inflation, was “booming.”

“‘Notwithstanding many naysayers, under President Joe Biden’s administration, the United States economy is not just back on track to tremendous growth, but, thanks to a number of legislative and administrative measures, is on its way to being less trickle down and more bottoms-up,” the column claimed.

Another headline appearing recently, on CNBC: “Wall Street economists are confident Biden’s Build Back Better bill will become law – and boost infrastructure firms.”

CNN also noted, “Finally some relief: Gasoline and natural gas prices are falling,” which came just days after Democrats were openly ridiculed for boasting about a 2-cent decline in the price of gasoline after those costs surged by more than a dollar under Biden’s anti-energy policies.
