Kamala Harris, the vice president, has blasted the European explorers who first arrived in America, charging them with unleashing a “wave of devastation” on warring tribes already on the continent.

“Since 1934, every October, the United States has recognized the voyage of the European explorers who first landed on the shores of the Americas,” she charged. “But that is not the whole story. That has never been the whole story.

“Those explorers ushered in a wave of devastation for tribal nations – perpetrating violence, stealing land, and spreading disease. We must not shy away from this shameful past, and we must shed light on it and do everything we can to address the impact of the past on native communities today.”

She was speaking to the National Congress of American Indians.

Fox News reported she claimed Biden’s massive tax-and-spend program, involving trillions of dollars, will help “Indian Country.”

She said, “Native Americans are more likely to live in poverty, to be unemployed, and often struggle to get quality healthcare and to find affordable housing.”

She said Biden’s plan to spend $3.5 trillion on mostly social and green programs, “represents the largest infrastructure investment our nation has made since before World War II and presents, right now, an important opportunity to strengthen Indian Country.”

At Breitbart, a report explained how Harris “deplored the European explorers who first landed in North America.”

The comments came in conjunction with the Columbus Day holiday, which now is being promoted across the country as indigenous people day.
