Denied life-sustaining care: In 1 year hospital left 17 babies who survived abortion … to DIE!

One hospital abandoned 17 babies who survived abortion procedures in just one year to die.

That’s according to a LifeNews report on the policies and practices of Alberta Health Services in Canada.

The report reveals, too, that such activities have been going on for at least several years, with 28 such cases in 2023-24 and 20 in 2022-23. The latest total comes from 2025.

The infants followed “second- and third-trimester abortions and were left to die without life-sustaining medical care,” the report charged.

That’s even though Section 223 of the Criminal Code of Canada provides that any child born alive is a legal person entitled to protection, LifeNews reported.

However, under Policy PS-92 on “Termination of Pregnancy” at Alberta Health Services, it is explicitly allows that a Do-Not-Resuscitate order be placed “in anticipation of a possible live birth.”

The report said, “The Canadian Institute for Health Information reported the 17 cases of infants born alive after induced abortions in acute care hospitals. The figures are tracked under the discharge code for ‘Termination of pregnancy, affecting fetus and newborn.’”

The National Right to Life Committee said, “Seventeen babies were born alive in Alberta following labor-inducted late-term abortions in 2025 and left to die.”

The documentation has prompted calls from pro-life organizations for the government to end the abandonment of newborns who survive abortion attempts, the report said.

One campaign is from LeftToDie.ca, which is pushing Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to order the revision of hospital practices, the report said.
