Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the surging violence in the Middle East, rockets from Gaza raining destruction down on Israel, and that democracy’s defensive actions, is all Israel’s fault.
And he wants that nation punished.
He is calling on the international community to “give Israel a strong and deterrent lesson,” according to a report that quoted the Turkish President Communications Directorate.
He is pressing for the United Nations Security Council to intervene with “determined and clear messages” to Israel.
He said he’d like an international protection force to shield Palestinians.
And his is not the only voice, mostly Muslims, that are charging that Israel should be blamed, even though its actions have been defensive following the rockets from Gaza.
Some of them are coming out of Congress.
Fox reports Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., charged that the Israeli government is “promoting racism and dehumanization” and discriminates against Palestinians in the violence.
She’s a member of the so-called “Squad,” a coalition of far-left members of Congress, and was appearing beside Ayman Mohyeldin, on a left-leaning network.
“This is an apartheid system, Ayman. Israeli’s own prominent human rights organization B’Tselem has declared it, Human Rights Watch has declared it, and Palestinians on the ground have been telling us for decades that … their homes have been demolished, that they have been targeted, that violence has been met by Israeli led forces under [Prime Minister Benjamin} Netanyahu’s racist policies,” she said.
Fox reported her claims were made “without providing evidence.”
The New York Post revealed Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., also Muslim, claimed Israel’s actions were those of “terrorism.”
“Israeli air strikes killing civilians in Gaza is an act of terrorism. Palestinians deserve protection. Unlike Israel, missile defense programs, such as Iron Dome, don’t exist to protect Palestinian civilians. It’s unconscionable to not condemn these attacks on the week of Eid,” she claimed on social media.
So far, dozens of people have been killed in the rocket fight.
The Hill reported “Democrats” are outraged by Israel’s actions in the dispute.
“I know what it’s like to be brutalized for simply advocating for my own humanity,” Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., claimed on social media. “I stand in strong solidarity with our Palestinian siblings.”
And Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., said, “The Biden administration needs to publicly acknowledge that the dislocation of Palestinian families from their own land is unacceptable and a form of persecution. Secondly, the administration has every lever at its disposal to explicitly restrict U.S. assistance from activities that persecute Palestinians and advance the illegal annexation of Palestinian land.”
The Washington Examiner reported the condemnation of Israel has gotten so extreme, even moderate Democrats are recoiling.
The report explained Israel and Hamas, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization, have been exchanged rocket fire for several days. At least 48 are dead and hundreds injured.
The report said Democratic Reps. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey and Elaine Luria of Virginia rebuked their far-left colleagues.
“A critical point for some of my colleagues whose facts are a bit off: Hamas is the terrorist organization, as designated by the United States,” Gottheimer said. “The U.S. supports our ally Israel’s right to defend itself, particularly against heinous Foreign Terrorist Organizations.”
Luria said, “My heart is with the Israeli people as they shelter from rockets fired by terrorists in the Gaza Strip.”
The crisis developing in the Middle East – some are expressing concerns over a potential all-out war – was just the latest obstacle for the Biden administration, which already is beleaguered by the nation’s southern border crisis, the gas shortage that has enveloped several states already, looming signals of inflation, and its own inability to move the major legislation it wants to use to alter the very fabric of American elections.
The real reason for the Israel-Palestinian conflict offers no support for the leftists’ complaints about Israel.
It began when Hamas, a designated terrorist organization that rules Gaza, encouraged young people to stockpile rocks, stones and chunks of concrete in the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
That’s the explanation from Joel Rosenberg, who was interview by David Brody on Real America’s Voice.
Rosenberg, editor-in-chief of All Israel News, noted Hamas instructed the Palestinian youth to throw the rocks at Jewish worshipers in the Western Wall plaza.
“That’s what tactically set this thing off,” he said.
Israel forces then had to move in to the Temple Mount to protect the worshipers and “stop this violation of religious freedom,” said Rosenberg, an American-Israeli citizen who now lives in Israel.
“And, of course,” he said, “this was designed to pull Israeli forces in and then create a ‘moment,’ where you have tear gas and you have all this stuff going on, so that on television, the radical Islamic world could begin to say Israel is encroaching on our religious freedom, and they are desecrating our holy site.”
