'Tactical missteps' trigger surging dislike of Kamala Harris

A new report in the Hill warns that Kamala Harris’ “tactical missteps” are dragging down her approval rating, and one Democrat strategist warns, “I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good” in coming elections.

The bad news for Democrats comes just days after Convention of States Action, which worked with The Trafalgar Group, found 63.6% of American voters are “not very confident or not confident at all” of her qualifications to be president – based on her performance, or lack thereof, as vice president.

President Biden has given her a long list of projects on which to work, including the southern border crisis and getting the Democrats’ voting wish list through Congress, but she has failed to produce any significant results at all.

The poll showed only 31.6% of American voters – largely Democrats – “are somewhat confident or very confident” she is ready.

The negative opinion of her included 42.6% of Democrat voters who are “not very confident or not confident at all” she’s ready.

The Hill report now is warning Harris “has some ground to make up in order to be perceived more favorably by the public.”

The report said in a trio of surveys, her combined unfavorable rating was 46%, and noted, “In an Economist-YouGov poll conducted from July 24 to 27, Harris’s unfavorable figure reached 48 percent.”

The report quoted an unidentified Democratic strategist who expressed the opinion: “As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates. My sense is she’ll probably raise a lot of money and maybe she’ll go to some specific districts, but they’ll have to be really strategic with her.”

The Hill also quoted a Harris “ally” admitting, “No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?.’ She’s made a bunch of mistakes and she’s made herself a story for good and bad.”

One of her failures so far has been the southern border and the crisis of illegal aliens flooding into the U.S., after Biden abandoned the policies and practices President Trump had adopted to reduce that problem significantly.

Polling aggregator RealClearPolitics recently reported, too, that her unfavorable rating of 46% means she has her “work cut out for her” if her intention is to succeed Biden in 2024 or 2028.

“Harris may be Biden’s heir apparent, but her unfavorable ratings, even among Biden supporters, are high for a politician hoping to move from Number One Observatory Circle to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.,” the report said.

Biden also has tasked her with pushing through a comprehensive Democrat strategy that opposes a long list of election integrity efforts sponsored by Republicans, an effort that so far has been unsuccessful.

Her grating, cackling laugh whenever she is confronted with a question she doesn’t want to answer also has been noted.
