PALM BEACH, Florida – A top adviser to Rudy Giuliani says the 81-year-old former New York City mayor “is recovering from pneumonia,” while remaining in critical but stable condition.
Ted Goodman stated on X Monday: “On September 11th, Mayor Giuliani ran toward the towers to help those in need, which later led to a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease.
“This condition adds complications to any respiratory illness, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition.
“He is now breathing on his own, with his family and primary medical provider at his side.

“Mayor Giuliani is the ultimate fighter – as he has demonstrated throughout his life – and he is winning this battle.
“His family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support. The mayor believes in the power of prayer, and we are feeling that strength today. He remains in critical but stable condition. Please keep the prayers coming.”
Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who previously worked in the New York City Police Department, on Monday praised Giuliani’s historic success.
“Mayor Rudy Giuliani was the most transformative figure in the history of NY City politics,” Bongino said.
“He pulled off an economic and public safety miracle in a relatively short amount of time, and the city rose from the dead. I worked for the NYPD during the end of his second term. It was the honor of a lifetime. I pray he pulls through this. The world needs more of him.”
When asked by a reporter Monday if he wished to comment on Giuliani’s contributions to the city especially through 9/11, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said: “I think, former Mayor Guliani is someone that we as New Yorkers know well, and he’s been a fixture in our city’s politics and public life for so many years.
Zohran Mamdani refuses to acknowledge former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s role in getting New Yorkers through 9/11.

“And I know that many New Yorkers are concerned by the reports that he’s in critical condition. And so we do keep him and his family in our prayers at this time.”
On Friday night, Giuliani broadcast his show “America’s Mayor Live” on from Palm Beach, Florida, noting his voice was “a little bit under the weather” after coughing.
On Sunday, President Donald Trump chimed in, saying: “Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition.
“What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL – AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad!”
