Mothers across America have been alarmed, and expressing their alarm, for several months now that infant formula products in stores are in short supply or even sold out.
The shortage apparently happened because of a contamination problem at one manufacturing facility that was closed down after multiple infants got sick.
But moms weren’t happy because a member of Congress revealed that the Biden administration was warned about the looming crisis and ignored it.
Then, to make things worse, another member of Congress revealed the Washington government was buying huge amounts of formula to hand out to illegal aliens as they cross into the United States – even while store shelves remained empty for American moms.
Now Fox News reports a Washington Post “fact-checker” is expressing no tolerance for the moms.
The report said it was the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler who said the moms are just engaging in “faux outrage.”
“This is a ridiculous faux outrage. The shortage of baby formula is a serious issue that the administration is seeking to address. But at the same time, the administration cannot be faulted for following the law and providing baby formula to undocumented immigrants,” he charged.
He cited a 1997 agreement that sets guidelines for border facility operations, which requires age-appropriate food and drink for illegal aliens.
He claimed it was false that the situation could be blamed on Biden’s policies and priorities.
The White House has said it is working on the issue, but Republicans in Congress are warning the administration that it actually is a “crisis for families.”
Retailers have been limiting purchases – when products are available – because of the shortage.
Kessler’s brushoff of the mothers’ concerns was prompted by a social media image from Rep, Kat Cammack, R-Fla., who posted photographs of a fully stocked shelf at a border facility, and a mostly empty shelf at a store.

New reports on Friday explained it was an Abbott Nutrition plant in Sturgis, Michigan, that had been shut down, cutting off a huge percentage of supplies that it provided in America.
But the report also revealed that the Food and Drug Administration abruptly confirmed it would allow the plant to release some of its formula stockpiles to combat the national shortage.
WND had reported earlier that a report from Just the News faulted Joe Biden for being caught “flat footed” by the problem.
The report said, “At the outset of his presidency, Joe Biden promised competence by a bigger, better government. A few days ago, one of his loyal allies exposed a gross incompetence by federal officials on Biden’s watch that defied that promise and inflamed a baby formula shortage now panicking parents nationwide.”
The report said the government was warned last fall of the developing issues, but nothing was done by the Biden administration.
